11:22am: John: 8 teams four years ago,
now 20 teams
State Championship Discussion John: Last year we exceeded
what we can do in one day.
We went around the table and people talked about their thoughts on the
format, schedule, and other general ideas for the VT state championship.
Anne: Host states at Norwich
University (Central VT), not sure of the cost, lots of fields (12),
Good for one day format, Not opposed to multiple days Dave: Likes multiple days,
Norwich Peyton: Really flexible, as
long as there are places to lodge Theo: Doesn’t really know, kids
occupied at the moment, anything would be fine, like the idea more of a
two day Pete: Here to listen Jake: As most opportunity to
play for the kids, go two days, believe that a rookie, great respect
for new teams to play against everyone, even really established teams,
two day tournament is a good idea, treat it like a sport, don’t short
it, make it big and good, Zak: As long as its central I’m
for it being two days Shannon: Give them more playing
time, two days Matt: Two days would be great,
tricky part is that they have lots going on Josh: Big event, better, kids
would love it Zach: As a player I would like
a two day tournament, more games, more fun Joel: Two days seems like a
good idea, graduated from Norwich
General consensus is for two days
Need an Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the state champs
Joel (St. Johnsbury) knows the president of Norwich. He’s going to send
him an email to start the conversation. Aim to possible host the event
there for several years.
Do we stay with USAU or form and
independent league?
- Some people were concerned with the paperwork, chaperone forms
- USAU format had limitations
Josh’s pitch: There are
downsides, but lots of legitimacy is added and we receive liability
coverage for the event. Would not have been able to start the
tournament otherwise. Not all teams can receive certificates of
insurance from their schools. We can go even further and sanction the
whole league. If we did that, it would be much easier for teams to get
insurance coverage for fields.
Anyone strongly against USAU for the
event? Nope.

Vermont YCC team: Well received, first step is sanctioning the league
USAU Coaching Clinic discussion: Level 1, broad experience served
Need to find out about actual interest, who would sign up, seems like
there is strong interest, $75 fee discussed
