We're all set for another round of the St. Johnsbury Academy Invitational!
All teams need to make sure they have at least one representative at the 8am captain's meeting at tournament central. There will be a meeting at both SJA and the Fairgrounds.
It's hard to believe that in just over two weeks the St. Johnsbury
Ultimate community will be welcoming you all the the NEK! We can't
wait, and hope you can't wait as well!
Note: I will be on vacation
from 4/15 through 4/24. During that time my email response will be
delayed.
Every team's paperwork status has been updated on the online spreadsheet. Please take a look
and make sure your information is correct.
1) Every team must have at least one NCSI background checked chaperone
listed on their online roster
in order to participate. Please keep in mind that it can take up to two
weeks for this process to be completed. If you have not started this
process, please do so IMMEDIATELY.
Listed below are the teams that have completed this requirement as of
8:30pm on Wednesday, 4/13:
Acton-Boxborough MA Open
Amherst JVA MA Open
Brattleboro VT Open
Columbia B NJ Open
Compass VT Open
Concord-Carlisle MA Open
Concord-Carlisle MA Girls [Note:
You need to have someone else listed as your chaperone.]
Falmouth ME Open
Fryeburg Academy ME Open
Hanover NH Open
Hopkinton MA Open
Lincoln-Sudbury MA Girls
Lincoln-Sudbury MA Open
Lyndon Institute VT Open
PVPA MA Girls
Spaulding VT Open
St. Johnsbury Academy V VT Girls
St. Johnsbury Academy V VT Open
Stuyvesant JV NY Open
Stuyvesant V NY Open
Vermont Commons VT Open
All other teams either have NO chaperone listed on their online roster
or their listed chaperone still needs to be cleared.
I implore you to get this done as quickly as you can. Please let me
know immediately if you have any questions.
2) Only players that are listed on your online roster that have paid
their USA Ultimate membership due and have completed the online waiver
will be allowed to play. If
your team puts players on the field that are not on your roster your
team will be immediately expelled from the tournament.
3) All teams must mail me copies
of their USA Ultimate medical waiver forms.
4) All teams must have at least one
chaperone with them at all times, including all time spent at
host houses.
6) Many teams have requested more dinner spots than they have paid for.
Please check the paperwork status sheet, find out how much you owe, and
send your check, made out to St. Johnsbury Academy to:
Josh Seamon
SJAI2011
1000 Main St.
St. Johnsbury, VT 05819
Please write your team's name and "dinner" in the memo field on your
check. Checks need to be mailed by this Friday. (I have to finalize
dinner numbers by early next week.)
+TEAM ROSTERS
We will be including team rosters in our tournament program. Please
fill out the team roster
spreadsheet and email it to me at by Thursday,
4/21 at 3pm.
+TOURNAMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
I am happy to announce that in addition to several student
photographers, we will have a professional on hand. Stephen McKinney
of Big Dawg Images
will be working his way through our field sites taking pictures all day
Saturday and Sunday. Prints will be for sale online shortly after the
tournament.
+HOUSING ASSIGNMENT
The housing coordinator extraordinaire, Teija, has been hard at working
matching the 27 teams that need housing with hosts. She will be sending
out emails introducing teams to their hosts in the next 7 days. Be on
the look out for the email.
The following teams have not filled out the Housing and Dinner numbers
online form. If I don't hear from you by the end of the week I will
assume you don't need any housing or dinner tickets.
Montpelier A VT Open
Montpelier B VT Open
Needham B MA Open
+ROSTERING TIPS
1) On your online roster, Organizers and Chaperones are NOT the same thing. The same person
can be listed in both places but the big thing you need is for at least
one person to be listed as a chaperone who has completed the NCSI
background check.
2) Please delete players from your rosters that will not be attending
the tournament.
3) If a player's status is not showing up as up to date, click on
"Check Roster". This can also help to make a coach show up as cleared.
+TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
I am working hard at completing the final tournament schedule. My goal
is to release the first draft in the next 5 days. The big thing I need
from all teams is for everyone to report their scores in
the USA Ultimate online score reporter. Initial tournament rankings
will be based on what has been reported to this system.
Everything that is currently known about the competition schedule is
online right here.
Event schedule information is online right here.
+DINNER/DANCE/TRADE NIGHT
The Saturday night extravaganza (6-10pm) is going to be phenomenal. All
tournament participants, coaches, and chaperones are welcome to attend
even if they're not going to eat dinner at the event. In addition to
the dance, bouncy castles (3!), and dinner, there will also be a large
gaming room.
Let me know if you have any questions,

5) The Saturday night dinner/dance/trade night is going to be insane!
The Black Sheep Deli

the latest dance setup update:
"For the third year in a row Studio
52 Development and Edmondson Light
will be guiding you through one of the most epic dance environments
you'll ever experience. With over 9000 watts of light (yeah
that's right, over 9000!), 5000 watts of sound, 4500 additional watts
of bass, and more than 150 hours of planning and programming, this
year's party will be like no other. We've got more moving lights,
more speakers, more music, and basically just more cool stuff than ever
before. Our only advice for you? Bring those earplugs and sunglasses..."
Here's what things looked like last year. This year will be even better!
