SJAI 2010 - May 22nd and 23rd 2010
St. Johnsbury Academy, St. Johnsbury, VT

SJAI 2010 - Housing PDF Print E-mail

Team leaders, please read the following carefully:

What you need to let your host know:

·         Your travel plans – arrival date/time, departure date and time, how many vehicles

·         Coaches’/Chaperones’ names, cell #’s and e-mail addresses. Chaperones – please check in with your host daily once you arrive just to make sure you are all "on the same page” with where your team is and when they will be arriving/departing.

·         Any health issues? Does your team have a diabetic, a bee allergic player or someone with a health issue your host needs to know about? PLEASE TELL THEM so they can make any necessary preparations.

Other than the above, just exercise good common sense. A few things we have learned from team housing experiences in the past:

1.             Sleeping Pad - If possible, please bring a small foam pad along with your sleeping bag, water bottle and sunscreen. Many of you will be staying on basement floors. A small pad makes sleeping that much more comfortable.

2.             Sponsor Food - Please remember that your hosts are not responsible to feed you. Take care of your food needs before and after your stay with your hosts.

3.             Showers – This year we have access to the showers in the Boys and Girls locker rooms at St. Johnsbury Academy.

4.             Laundry - Please ask your host before you arrive if it is okay to do laundry on Saturday night. All housing may not have a washer/dryer available so it is best to ask. Preferably, you should bring extra socks and underwear and save the wash for when you return. If you have not checked with your host ahead of time, please don't assume that laundry services will be available to you.

5.             Host family computers, phones and cars – are off limits to teams unless specified otherwise by your host.

6.             While we try and make it feel like your home... it’s really not. Your hosts are generously providing a great gift to house your team. Please be respectful of any house rules or requests that your host will have of you. It would be a nice gesture if each team staying with a family brought a small gift as a "thank you.”

Good luck, have fun, and enjoy your time together! Be sure to visit the Parent Resources pages of the tournament website for information on our area:  http://vyul.org/content/view/ 158/182/.  If you have any questions about the weekend's housing, please feel free to contact me by email ( ) or call my cell at 802-272-2568.

Housing Coordinator

Housing assignments will be made in mid-April.

Housing will be provided for all teams that travel a distance to the tournament and need to stay overnight on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday night. Your hosts will be St. Johnsbury Ultimate team members and their families.

Teams must indicate in their Bid Form whether or not they need housing, and how many people are on the team. Some teams will be able to stay together at one house and others may be split between two houses.

Visiting teams must bring sleeping bags, pillows, etc. Most likely you will be sleeping on a floor.

All showers will be taken at St. Johnsbury Academy, not at host families houses.

After you are accepted into the tournament you will be contacted by our Housing Director.

All teams that are assigned hosts must stay with their hosts.

ALL TEAMS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A CHAPERONE AT ALL TIMES.
